A LITTLE ON THE EVENT...
Red Bull 45s - an event that takes a piece of record history and remixes it into an innovative evolution of the traditional DJ competition. The event pays tribute to yesteryear by tasking DJs with competing against each other using only the 7-inch 45 rpm records popular in the 1950s and 1960s. The competition format places four DJs in four opposite corners of the venue, with the crowd in the middle. Each DJ spins for no more than four minutes on 45 rpm records, with each subsequent DJ attempting to match the last beat of the previous DJ - without the help of any beat-matching programs. The goal of the event is to revive the once revered 45 rpm record while tasking DJs to use all their imagination and expertise to create a seamless and continuous flow of music. At the end of the event, one DJ will be declared the winner based on both his musical creativity and technical skill.

I've got to say I'm a real picky dude. Sometimes it takes a lot to impress me and sometimes people don't really get it..... but I'll say that this mix-tape is everything and more! I've had this on non stop rotation lately... *(I'm not gassing anyone up right now)* In fact I played this at a local record swap this past weekend and everyone was big-ing the mix up! Shouts to Iron Lyon for this mix-tape! I briefly met him this past summer in New York @ Tuff Tuesdays. Also big up the man OSCAR !! 1/2 of the creators of the 1992 party ! If you seen me with one the panel caps on this is where it came from. Some of you might cash in on the idea of a 90's party, but if you didn't live it or understand the vibes it's hard to portray in my opinion...here is a few flicks so you get the idea....

Greetings all my friends! We are back for another edition of "THE TAKEOVER". If you have or haven't been to one of our parties we welcome you to stop inn! Dj Leo and myself throw this party once a month @ Zubar. If your wondering what to expect ... just imagine walking in and hearing classic Hip Hop you grew up with mixed with some classic Latin tunes (Salsa, meringue , bachata) along side some classic reggae. Don't get it twisted we love to switch the vibes up and play all types of music!!This Friday we hold the "HOLIDAY ESPECIAL" which we will be excepting donations for our good friend Inyang. He is a cousin, a friend, a mentor, and a good dude! He recently suffered multiple blood clots and while this was all happening a small stroke. He is out of the hospital and is making a speedy recovery. During all of this he was unable to work and is faced with medical bills (thanks American healthcare). Please stop by and donate even if it's $5, anything will help.
This was taking from CALIDAD WEBSITEWe are donating all proceeds to our Calidad Entertainment fam, Inyang Castro. He was hospitalized from 12 October - 13 November 2009 with multiple blood clots. One of which was in his brain and cause...d him to have a stroke. If you can make it out even for 15 minutes, we would sincerely appreciate it. LABOR DAY WEEKEND!!!!!
WHA GWAN!!?!? ALL MY PEOPLE?!?!? It's an action packed weekend and you know you are off on Monday.... sooooo. come kick it !! I'm literally going to be @ Zubar ALL WEEKEND! Lets get crazy this weekend.... First join me @ Brown Sugar w/ Dj MKnight.... I'll be in the back room, lots of hip hop, soul, funk, and reggae..... dress code no hats.. c'mon fellas dress it up a little!
Saturday myself and Tony Schwa will be in the frontroom @ Zubar. We get this monthly popping every first Saturday of the month. We getting it in with lots of classic house, funk, disco, and hip hop. We all ways bring you classics and some rare tunes you haven't heard......It's free and there is all ways a dance floor --- LETS GET IT!!
And finally Sunday night!!!! I don't even know where to start about this party... I'm a huge nerd when it comes to doing my homework and collecting rare records ... especially REGGAE. So I invited my bredren COKNI O'DIRE. This dude needs no introduction, and probably one of the only guys I know that is in Wikipedia! Originally from the "Scheme Team" and "Divine Styler" and has got down with all groups like "Freestyle Fellowship" too "House of Pain". Cokni also host a weekly Ustream show with Beatminerz radio. So. ..blah blah blah blah .... . ha ha . We going in with classic, old and new reggae & dancehall. GUNS OUT!
